Lotus Festival & Funco Faire

I guess everyone loves a good mystery, hence why so many people are interested in the identity of Sir Jack! I do believe we have another mystery on our hands as well.... Seems the lovely Lotus like to keep herself a mystery as well..... Can we tell who she "really" is from these pictures that she sent to me? You be the judge!

Her foot seems to have been
enjoying
the LeAnne Rimes concert.

And this must be a friend of her crab
his is Sumsum (according to the email)

Yes, this was classified information
If you saw the real email,

we would have to "kill" you. =oP

So, who is the "real" mystery? Sir Jack or Lotus...... I guess we will have to wait and see......I guess we really do need to have a Lotus Festival to find out for sure.....

Funco Faire

Funco faire started about 8 years ago in the backyard of Queen Korbel and King "I didn't do it". At that time, there were no faires during the summer months and the Drunken Dragons were having "faire withdrawl". So they all got together and built the little "Shire of Barnwall". And every year we have a "private" faire known as FUNCO.

There is always lots to do at Funco, swimming in the dragon bog, drinking at the ale stand, watching a play on the stage, shopping the raffle or 50/50 shops, playing grape toss game or eating our favorite faire food like shepherd's pie.

As always, I have pics to help tell the story.....

Nothing says "party" like a good cake!

Yes, this is Funcoland
and ye be pirates about!

Those grapes still have the stems!!!

Faire always ends the same way....
with the Parade of the Dead....

After 6pm no cameras are allowed.... thats when the afterhours party starts..... thats all I have to say about that other than we always have a GREAT time!!!

The Drunken Dragons have a saying for those who can't attend our functions........

SUCKS TO BE YOU!!!!

Since you all have lived the dragon life thru this photo~journal...then you must be worthy!!!

I hope you have enjoyed it... I know we DO!!!!

I am off to bed.... and then to see a horse about a bank robber! *tee hee*

Enjoy your Monday......

George Michael Rocks the Pond!

Yuppers! George Michael rocked the Honda Center (also known as Anaheim Duck Pond) in Anaheim, CA last night!! I went with some of faire friends, Dyana, Lu and Nancy (HUGE THANKS TO DY for getting the FREE tickets!) We were sitting stage right in the balcony looking right onto the stage. From out vantage point, we could even see the backstage area.

There was quite an eclectic variety of people attending the show, from all age groups (mostly MY age) and walks of life. I have to say that most everyone was dressed to the nines!!!!

There was no opening act, and he didnt start promptly at 8pm the way the tickets stated....LOL. But once he took the stage the crowd went WILD!!!!

I was quite impressed with his voice! It was simply amazing. The stage was lit up by 3 screens, one that was actually part of the stage he and the singers stood on.

About half way through they took a 20 minute break, never have seen that happen before. Considering he played for about 2 hours, I guess I understand. There were no cameras allowed inside, but of course that didnt stop the thousands from taking pics and vids on cell phones... (me inlcuded!) Please excuse the quality of the pics and vids... again, it was only my little cell phone.

Pic of big screen

WARNING:

The quality is poor and sound is even worse
not to mention LOUD, please adjust your speakers
BEFORE you play the videos!
(and it only takes 15 seconds of video)

It was a terrific night... please dont ask what songs he played, I really couldnt tell you the names..... =0P

It was an awesome show. I highly recommend if you are a fan, get tickets and go see him!!!

Ok... thats it for today... I am off to a "private" faire, known as Funco Faire... sorry NO cameras allowed there either, well after 6pm anyway! =0P

I hope you all enjoy your Saturday..... cant wait to hear the stories and see the pics from TEAM WI!!!

Hugs and love to all!

The beginning of the end.....

The beginning of the final week of filming has started. Today Mann, JD and crew were filming in the Chicago area. This being the final days before "wrap" is a bitter~sweet for those of us who are following the filming of Public Enemies.

The bitter=no more watching on location filming, no more pics and stories of JD and his famous "meet & greets".

The sweet=all the wonderful people who have come together and become friends over the past 110+ days, the memories of all the wonderful moments everyone has had who have experienced the "Depp-Effect".

I want to thank Marcella and Becky for the update and pics!!!

Here's what Marcella had to say: (posted on PEC on 6-23-08 11:10pm)

Haha so Vicky did get my message! As planned my friend and I took the 5:55 train down, caught a cab and headed towards Wrigley field. Basecamp happened to be across the street from where the cab had let us out. After talking to Becky (who was already where they were filming) we made our way to the set. Becky got a chance to actually see him act out the scene several times... we had just missed it. They wrapped soon after and of course Becky was much more on top of things then we were. After contemplating her sudden disappearance, we ran off in the direction of base camp. As usual, Becky knew what she was doing ;) Thank God we had literally ran. We arrived just as Jerry was collecting things to be signed. I was able to get both the Rolling Stones (with him on the cover) signed as well as the article printed a few months back comparing both John Dillinger and Johnny Depp.
After about an hour or so off socializing, Johnny came out a little before ten (correct me if I am wrong on this). My goal was to get a picture with him, and I succeeded. Of course I was looking at the wrong camera in the picture, but hey take what we can get right? Johnny seemed much less tired then Friday/Saturday in my opinion, although I know he still had a long day. Someone said they started at 6 this morning. Fun night and I know Becky was especially excited about getting back to Milwaukee at a decent time.

And the BEST pic !!!!!

Thanks again gals for sharing the info.... and special thanks to Becky for allowing me to post her pics!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!

RIP George Carlin....

====================================================================

Per Wikipedia:

George Denis Patrick Carlin[16] (May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008)[17][18][19] was a Grammy-winning American stand-up comedian, actor, and author.

Carlin went into St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA on June 22, 2008, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT of heart failure at the age of 71.

Carlin was especially noted for his political and black humor and his observations on language, psychology, and religion along with many taboo subjects. Carlin and his "Seven Dirty Words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5-4 decision by the justices affirmed the government's right to regulate Carlin's act on the public airwaves.

George Carlin's most recent stand-up routines were primarily focused on attacking the flaws in modern-day America. He often took on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture.

He was considered by many to be a successor to the late Lenny Bruce and was described by Comedy Central as the second greatest stand-up comedian of all time behind Richard Pryor, and right before Lenny Bruce.[20] He was also the first person to host Saturday Night Live.

Some of Carlin's Quotes:

Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did.

One can never know for sure what a deserted area looks like.

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

I have always enjoyed Carlin's humor.... he always had a different way of looking at things.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family....

Brother its hot...... cool pool!

====================================================================
Welcome to Sunday....I hope you all are enjoying your day doing what makes you happy.

Here in Cali we are in yet another day of triple digit heat!!!! Currently it is about 102 degrees!!! YIKES!!! The weather man says we will start cooling down... yeah right, I know the mid 90's is cooler but that is still pretty darn warm... Due to the recent heat wave, I decided to put up a pool to help keep my daughter and me cool.... With the help of my wonderful neighbor and his back hoe, we were able to level off an area in my driveway. I am surrounded by nothing but DIRT (decomposed granite-which is as hard as concrete!) so this was an easy task with the help of the back hoe. We had to tear up and then put back the dirt... level it and then rake the rocks etc out of the way.... set up the pool, fill the top tube with air and then fill the pool itself.... we now have an over sized wading pool complete with floating raft and noodles!!!! The whole thing (including the pool filter) for about $100 at the local Big Lots (formerly known as Pic n Save). Now lets hope nothing punctures it!!! LOL

One of 5 wheelbarrows filled with
heavy rocks to be hauled out.

It took over 5 hours to fill and who knows
how many gallons of water

And viola' we now have a HUGE wading pool in our driveway
I hope it survives the summer at least!

Brother @ the Irish Festival

It was a HOT day in Irvine at the Verizon Ampitheater. Brother was scheduled for two shows and we made it to both of them. The first show had a really late start as they were having sound issues (new sound guy?). There were lots of people there and we had a blast. I felt like such a papparrazi with my little camera taking pics right up close.

Brother is a 3 man band with Angus (vocals, guitar, bagpipes, flute, percussions) Dalbo (drums, percussions) DidgeriDrew (didgierdoo, keyboards) You can see their website here. They rock the house!!! We will be seeing then again next month when we attend the Labyrinth of Jareth. If you have ever seen the movie Labyrinth with David Bowie and Jim Hensen's muppets... then you will know what the ball is all about. It takes place during the dream sequence.... it is a great time and the costumes are AWESOME.... ok, I got side-tracked.... back to Brother...

Angus opens the show with the didgeridoo
the sounds it makes are really neat!

DidgeriDrew joins in

Together they makes some pretty great sounds!
While Dalbo is banging away at the drums

Angus fronts the band....
he is so talented!

Helping Dalbo out on the drums!

I love this pic...
Anugus pointing at Drew

Then he breaks out the pipes!!!

The crowd is getting into it!

Who would have thought that bagpipes
would sound so cool in a rock band!

I still dont understand how the thing makes those noises!

Dalbo glances at me with a smile!

Great beat going on here!

The band at their best!

Ok, I had mentioned that there was this gal there and the moon was out as well.....

LOL..... this is the gal... her kilt was WAAAAAY too short and she was the only one on the dance floor dancing her heart out.... but.... everytime she swung her hips... the kilt would fly up and everyone got a glance at her ARSE!!!! The crowd was laughing and taking pics... but she just kept going.... I guess she didnt know.... finally some one took pity on her and walked up to her and let her know what was happening.... she promptly pulled her kilt down lower and just kept on dancing.... only in Cali!!!! The saving grace was that at least she had on underwear, though they were harder to see than her booty!!!

It was a great show! I got to video tape their entire song Photograph ! Its about 5 minutes long, so I hope to get it loaded at some point.... IF you ever get a chance to see Brother, please do... you wont be disappointed, no matter what kind of music you listen to.... I am sure that you will enjoy them!
===================================================================
Ok, now on to the Irish Festival itself...... here are some great signs that caught my eye.... I will have more tomorrow with the "Stick Crew" and the hunt for Chinstrap and the Mother of Pearl....... stay tuned.....

Thats all for now.... enjoy your Sunday......

Minxie
